AP Mobile News Network participation jumps nearly 600%

More than 700 AP members covering top 100 DMAs provide a single wireless access point for all news

NEW YORK -- The Associated Press announced today that 728 AP newspapers have joined its Mobile News Network -- a 580 percent jump in media participation -- since its launch in May.

"It is an exciting time for the Mobile News Network as we realize our goal of becoming the news portal for mobile devices," said Jeffrey Litvack, AP global director for new media markets. "With over 700 news content providers, the Mobile News Network is now the first national footprint for local news on the mobile phone. Leveraging this network, marketers can build integrated campaigns at the neighborhood level both in mobile and print, and mobile users can access their local trusted sources of information wherever and whenever they want."

Litvack announced the increase in MNN participation during the "Meet the Publishers" panel at the IAB Leadership Forum: Mobile conference, held today at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. The event is produced by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, a trade organization that represents 375 leading interactive companies that actively engage in and support the sale of interactive advertising.

The Mobile News Network today covers the entire 100 top designated market areas and provides the widest coverage available of breaking news, sports, entertainment and business developments for consumers on the go.
